JPIC Update From Rome Office

HNP Communications Around the Province

ROME —  Joseph Rozansky reports that the JPIC Office at the General Curia is mailing to all the provincial houses of the Order the most recent materials published by the Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation office:

  • The proceedings of the Second International JPIC Congress: “Embracing the Excluded of Today,” held in Brazil in February.
  • A booklet containing JPIC quotes from our General Constitutions, the General Statutes, the Ratio Formationis Franciscanae and the Ratio Studiorum.  The principal reason for this compilation is to make it easier for friars to find the theoretical and practical citations which will help with both reflection on JPIC themes, and with the service of animation in the Entities and Conferences.  It is meant for all friars, but should be especially helpful for Provincials and Custodes, for secretaries of formation and evangelization, and for formators and JPIC animators.

Some of the upcoming activities of the JPIC Office include —

  • preparing a resource booklet on Chapter IV of the General Constitutions with the General Secretariats for Formation and Studies and for Evangelization and Mission which deals with the third priority of the Order: Minority, poverty and solidarity.
  • preparing three resource booklets dealing with three of the JPIC proposals from the 2003 General Chapter: Ecology, Active Non-Violence and the Excluded.  These three topics are also related to the concrete signs that we have been asked to pursue in preparation for the celebration of the VIII Centenary of the Order (2006-2009).
