NEW YORK — The Provincial Council received approval this week from Bishop Edward Kmiec of Buffalo, N.Y., on its nomination of James Vacco, OFM, to be pastor of St. Bonaventure Parish in Allegany, N.Y. He is one of seven new pastors appointed by the Council to begin terms this summer.

James, a native of Buffalo, graduated from St. Bonaventure University in 1976. He will begin his position at the parish nicknamed “Little Bona’s” on July 1. He replaces Richard Husted, OFM, the current pastor, who will be moving to St. Mary’s Church, Pompton Lakes, N.J., when he completes his term in June.

Jim is an adjunct faculty member at SBU, where he has taught courses for the university’s Clare College and theology department. He is a member of the Buffalo Diocese’s Council of Priests.
