Insight and Wisdom Now On-Line

HNP Communications In the Headlines

NEW YORK — To enable as many people as possible to read about the Province’s Vocation programs, the Communications Office has loaded the Insight and Wisdom publication on HNP’s Web site.

According to Greg Jakubowicz, vocation director, Insight and Wisdom is a quarterly publication produced for men discerning a vocation as a Franciscan friar in the Holy Name Province.  The publication has been published by HNP’s Vocation Office for more than six years.

Each issue includes photos and information about recent and upcoming events.  In addition to the fall issue that introduces the new postulants, other issues offer an article by a friar focusing on a vocation theme centered around the liturgical seasons.  The Lent 2007 issue contains a reflection by William Beaudin, regional vocation director, titled “Lent and Franciscan Life – Means to Christian Joy.”

Having the publication available on-line is a valuable service, Greg said.

“Often, a man who believes he is being called to our way of life first seeks out our Web site.  Now, visitors to our site willbe able to learn about who we are and will have the additional opportunity to read a publication that is tailored directly to someone discerning a Franciscan vocation.”

Another feature on the Vocation section of the Web site is the list of Friars Stories in which members of the Province describe how and why they joined the Franciscans.  The site currently includes more than 50 stories.

Any friar interested in submitting an essay about his Franciscan journey is asked to e-mail Jocelyn Thomas, Director of Communications, at communications@hnp.org
