Immigration Successes and Failures in Camden

Jud Weiksnar Around the Province

CAMDEN, N.J. – One of the St. Anthony’s parishioners, Camden City Council President Angel Fuentes, introduced a resolution that was unanimously passed by the Council denouncing H.R. 4437. This is the House bill that criminalizes aid to undocumented immigrants.

Jud Weiksnar spoke at a press conference at City Hall on March 14, in which he referred to Catholic social teachings on immigration and to statements by Cardinals Mahoney.

Deacon Tito Miranda, SFO, and Jud will be taking parishioners to Trenton on March 20 for a rally in support of immigrants in front of the state house. This rally will be similar to the one that Chris Posch attended in Philadelphia a few weeks ago.

On Sunday, Deacon Tito said at our 9:30 Spanish Mass, “Immigrants, we stand with you.” The next day, 23 undocumented immigrants were swept up at a local car wash. Several of the families have come to Deacon Tito asking what they can do.
