NEW YORK — Three friars from Immaculate Conception Province, headquartered in lower Manhattan, recently professed solemn vows in Ontario, Canada.
As reported in the IC newsletter, called News, Brothers Alvin Te, Christopher Gaffrey and Giacomo La Selva professed their vows at St. Francis Centre for Religious Education in Caledon, Ontario, on Sept. 13. Provincial Minister Fr. Robert Campagna, OFM, preached the homily.
On Sept. 14, the three friars were ordained as transitional deacons by Bishop Robert Camillieri, and received assignments. Br. Christopher has been assigned to St. Joseph in Winsted, Conn.; Br. Giacomo will serve at St. Jane Frances de Chantal in Toronto, Canada; and Br. Alvin will minister at the St. Francis Centre in Caledon.
The Oct. 3 newsletter also provided the General Minister’s letter for the feast of St. Francis and reported that the IC Province will begin a collaborative effort in formation with friars from the Maltese Province of St. Paul the Apostle. Beginning in the fall of 2010, the Maltese friars in post-novitiate formation will join with IC friars living at the Convento San Francesco in Rome and conduct their studies at the Pontifical University Antonianum.
