IC Province Launches New Website

NEW YORK — The Province of Immaculate Conception has a new look for its website. After months of development, the website has a new format with a landing page that offers global Franciscan news, large rotating photos, a link to the province’s newsletter, a welcome titled “Pax et Bonum,” and a button with vocation information titled “Live Radically.”

The new site was launched this month and was announced on Facebook.

“Aside from the background functions, one of the more important changes is the design,” said Fr. Alvin Te, OFM, IC’s webmaster. “We needed a newer and simpler look. We also needed to streamline many of the pages, because there was a redundancy of information.”

“When our Provincial asked me to take charge of the website, I asked permission to start from scratch, because the old one had been patched up with so many modifications throughout the years that it became difficult to manage,” said Fr. Alvin.

“It’s a new beginning, so hopefully the website will grow from here, with more information, more photos, and more features,” he said.

The spring 2012 issue of IC’s Newsletter, which can be found on the website’s home page, features the 50thanniversary of the Franciscan Mission Associates, IC’s fundraising arm; the withdrawal of the friars from a parish in Cambridge, Mass., and a reflection by Fr. Andrew Cirino, OFM, titled “St. Bonaventure and Justice.”

This week, Fr. Alvin is participating in the annual meeting of the OFM English-speaking Conference communicators. The 2012 meeting, being held at St. Peters’ in the Loop Friary in Chicago, was organized with help from Jocelyn Thomas, communications director of Holy Name Province, the secretary of the communications committee.
