Holy Cross Retreat Center To Host OFM Interprovincial Retreat

LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Four OFM provinces are sponsoring an interprovincial retreat at Holy Cross Retreat Center. “Clare, a Light for our Path,” Jan. 9 to 13, 2012, is open to friars from all OFM provinces.

retreatflyer“Clare’s courageous exit from her noble home in Assisi 800 years ago to a life of poverty at San Damiano has a timeless message for those yearning, consciously or unconsciously, to discover God,” states the retreat flyer. “We will ponder Clare’s writings as a light for our spiritual journey and enlightenment for today’s Franciscan mission.”

Sr. Ramona Miller, OSF, a member of the congregational leadership team for the Sisters of St. Francis of Rochester, Minn., will serve as retreat director. A staff member of the Franciscan Pilgrimage Programs since 1987, Sr. Ramona often gives presentations and conducts retreats on contemporary aspects of Franciscan spirituality. She is a graduate of St. Bonaventure University’sFranciscan Institute and author of In the Footsteps of St. Clare and co-author of Praying With Clare of Assisi.

AssumptionOur Lady of GuadalupeSacred Heart and St. John the Baptist provinces are sponsoring the retreat.

Friars must register no later than Dec. 20. Information about the retreat was mailed last month to HNP friars by Provincial Secretary Michael Harlan, OFM. Additional details can be obtained by calling 505-980-9409. Holy Cross is 45 miles from El Paso International Airport.

This year’s interprovincial retreat took place the same week as the Holy Name Province Chapter.
