Dan Sulmasy, one of the province’s practicing physicians, was featured in two newspapers this week.
His work acknowledging the spiritual needs and questions of patients facing death was described in The Journal News, a daily newspaper serving the Hudson Valley area of New York, on Monday, Oct. 9. His views regarding end-of-life issues were included in a feature in the Oct. 10 New York Times Science section.
Dan, an internist, is director of the Bioethics Institute of New York Medical College in Valhalla, N.Y. He has been a leading voice for more than a decade in the movement to treat the spiritual health of patients.
An article by Dan about the care of dying patients was published in the September issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).
