NEW YORK — Autumn heralds the changing of leaves, lower temperatures — and a new issue of Be a Franciscan, the HNP Franciscan Vocation Ministry’s quarterly publication.
Earlier this month, Brian Smail, OFM, HNP vocation director, emailed the fall 2012 issue to all HNP friars as well as to men who are prospective candidates. Printed copies will be shipped to all Provincial ministries later this month, said Brian.
The issue highlights the ministry of Kevin Kriso, OFM, and the friars at Mt. Irenaeus, the significance of the San Damiano Cross, and formation milestones, including the solemn profession in August of Francis Critch, OFM, Mario Gomez, OFM, Percy Osorio, OFM, and Edgardo Zea, OFM.
Other articles in this issue include:
• “My Vocation Story” by Michael Reyes, OFM
• “Discernment: Listening to God’s Voice,” based on “Tuning In to God’s Call,” by Andrew Carl Wisdom, OP, and Christine Kiley, ASCJ, Liguori Publications
The upcoming Come and See Weekends at St. Paul Friary in Wilmington, Del., and Holy Name College in Silver Spring, Md., were also featured. Registration for the Oct. 27 to 28 event at St. Paul Friary is due Oct. 19, and registration for the Nov. 17 to 18 event at Holy Name College is due Nov. 9. These are two of four vocation events being offered this fall.
