SILVER SPRING, Md. — A new source for habits has been located by two friars based at Holy Name College here.
As friars in the Province are aware, several persons who formerly made habits for Holy Name friars are unable to do so any longer or are otherwise occupied, Provincial Vicar Dominic Monti, OFM, said.
“However, Francis DiSpigno, OFM, writes to let us know that he has followed up on another option mentioned at the Chapter in June, and that friars who are in need of a habit may order one from a fine seamstress at the Poor Clare Monastery in Cincinnati, Ohio, Sr. Rita Cheon, OSC,” Dominic said.
Francis and Ronald Stark, OFM, have each ordered and received a habit from Sr. Rita. The fabric is 45% wool and 55% Dacron polyester blend. It washes and dries very well and does not shrink, said Francis. The habits are dark brown and of a medium weight.
Those who are interested in ordering a habit from Sr. Rita can obtain instructions for measurements by e-mail or postal mail. The price for the habit is $230. plus shipping, which is approximately $10. within the United States.
Friars can reach Sr. Rita Cheong, OSC, at Ritaosc@yahoo.com or at the Monastery of St. Clare, 1505 Miles Road Cincinnati, OH 45231-2427. Phone: (513) 825-7177 Fax: (513) 825-4071.
