ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A member of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the province serving the Southwest states of Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and Texas, was ordained a priest last month.
Fr. Erasmo Romero, OFM, was ordained on Dec. 8 at Holy Family Church in Albuquerque. The Mexico native is 34 years old. His parents, brother and several nieces and nephews attended the ceremony.
News of the ordination was reported in the December issue of Padres’ Trail, the newsletter of the OLG Province.
The publication also reported on a special Mass held on Nov. 10, celebrated by Archbishop Michael Sheehan of Santa Fe, N.M., to mark the establishment of the St. Kateri Tekakwitha Shrine at the Isleta Pueblo Mission, St. Augustine, N.M.
St. Kateri Tekakwitha lived in the mid-1600s and was known as Lily of the Mohawks. She is a significant saint to the OLG friars because of their service to Pueblo Indian communities as well as the Navajo Nation.
