Fourteen. Fifty. Twenty-five. Five. Thirty. Sixteen. A half-dozen numbers that will have significant meaning next month in Holy Name Province.
The meaning behind the numbers: 14 brothers will be honored for their 50th and 25th anniversaries as professed Franciscan friars at a 5:30 p.m. Mass on May 16 in celebration of their golden and silver jubilees of first profession of vows.
The Provincial Office made the announcement of next month’s special Eucharistic Liturgy, which will take place at St. Francis of Assisi Church on West 31st Street in New York City. The Mass will be followed by a reception in San Damiano Hall, next door to the church.
All HNP Friars, family members, and friends are invited to this celebratory Mass and reception to honor the 14 jubilarians for their decades of ministerial service, according to Kevin Mullen, OFM, Provincial Minister.
“We are looking forward to commemorating these special milestones of their Franciscan life, and to thanking these faithful and dedicated brothers for their sacrifices, talents, and good work and ministry in service to the people of God,” said Kevin, who is scheduled to preside at the Mass and deliver the homily.
The friars celebrating 50 years since their profession of first vows are David Convertino, OFM, Richard Flaherty, OFM, Ronald Gliatta, OFM, Roberto Gonzalez, OFM, Daniel Grigassy, OFM, Thomas Kornacki, OFM, Richard McFeely, OFM, Daniel Murray, OFM, Daniel Nelson, OFM, John Rudy, OFM, and David Schlatter, OFM.
