Celebrations will abound as August comes to a close with four friars professing final vows and four new men being welcomed into the Province.

The solemn profession of Ciduane Joseph, OFM, Erick Lopez, OFM, Robert Lentz, OFM, and Paul O’Keeffe, OFM, will take place Aug. 21 at St. Francis of Assisi Church on West 31st Street in Manhattan. Provincial Minister John O’Connor, OFM, will celebrate the 11 a.m. Mass.

professionBrief biographies of the four friars appear in the Aug. 15 St. Francis parish bulletin. The friars of Holy Name Province rejoice that these men have given themselves in service to the Church and the Franciscan Order.

The following Thursday, Aug. 26, John Aherne, Pedro Corces, Frank Souza and Jeffrey Upshaw will be formally received into the Province as postulants. The service, at St. Paul’s Church in Wilmington, Del., is a low-key, in-house ritual according to Ronald Pecci, OFM, HNP director of postulants, who said, “There are generally no invited guests; only the postulants and the local community attend.”

Other Holy Name Province events planned for the coming months are:
· Diaconate ordination on Sept. 4
· Guardians meeting: Oct. 19-20
