NEW YORK –- Several HNP friars from New York City made their video debut recently in a DVD produced by the Religious Brothers Conference (RBC). Part 1 of In the Footsteps of Christ Our Brother, a vocational and educational DVD, was filmed, in part, at St. Francis of Assisi Church in mid-town Manhattan.
The 16-minute DVD explains the vocation of the religious brother and introduces the brotherhood as a viable option to God’s call. Five brothers from five different orders that minister in the United States are featured, including the Franciscans who are represented by Daniel Sulmasy, OFM.
Provincial Secretary Michael Harlan, OFM, Jerome Massimino, OFM, guardian and pastor of Saint Francis of Assisi Church and Friary, and Stephen Mimnaugh, OFM, who interned at the church last year, are seen in the DVD.
Michael, an RBC member, served on a vocation committee to help launch this educational project. “This video presentation is very much needed to inform and educate people about the vocation of religious brothers in the church today,” he said. “I hope it will be a helpful resource for those who serve in ministries with young people.”
Available in both English and Spanish, the DVD was designed to be used with high school, college and young adult groups, and is also applicable to faculty and parent groups, and for retreats.
The entire educational program will be completed by next September. All proceeds from the purchase of Part 1 will go to further development of the vocation project.
A copy of the DVD may be purchased for $50, with $10 for shipping, by visiting www.brothersonline.org, or by downloading the attached order form.
