Friars Establish New Community in Jordan

HNP Communications Franciscan World

The Custos of the Holy Land, Pierbattista Pizzaballa, OFM, confirmed that a new community will be canonically established in Jordan on Mount Nebo, according to the newsletter of the Sacred Heart Province. It was from the summit of Mount Nebo that Moses saw the Holy Land without being able to enter it.

The community will be made up of three friars – one each from Australia, Italy, and Syria. They will revive contemplative life and prayer combined with hospitality for pilgrims. In the future, the custody hopes to make the site suitable for retreats and hospitality, especially for the local Church.
