NEW YORK — The Provincial Administration has announced new assignments for two friars and welcomes a new candidate to the Province’s formation program

Ross Chamberland, a former simply-professed Capuchin friar from St. Mary Province, was accepted into the Province’s formation program in August, and is now assigned to Holy Name College in Silver Spring, Md.

Francis Critch, OFM, has received permission to extend his summer ministry placement at St. Mary’s Parish in Pompton Lakes, N.J., into a year-long pastoral internship, ending in summer 2011. There are now four simply-professed friars on pastoral internships until next summer: Frank in Pompton Lakes; Stephen DeWitt, OFM, in Cochabamba, Bolivia (going to Lima in January); Dwayne Fernandes, OFM, at St. Francis Parish in Raleigh, N.C.; and Daniel Horan, OFM, at Siena College outside Albany, N.Y.

Charles Gilmartin, OFM, who has lived at All Saints friary in Harlem since 2003, is retiring to St. Anthony Residence in Boston, Mass., effective Sept 13.
