MILWAUKEE — Fr. William Patrick Callahan, OFM Conv., has been named as auxiliary bishop of Milwaukee where the Franciscan family is well represented, according to the newsletter of Assumption Province.
“The Capuchins have a long history of service to the poor – especially the African-Americans – in Milwaukee. Assumption Province serves Hispanic Catholics at St. Anthony’s Parish,” the publication’s Nov. 26 issue of Provincial Newsletter said. The Conventuals serve at St. Josaphat Basilica. Among the Franciscan women’s congregations serving in the archdiocese are the Felician Sisters, the School Sisters of St. Francis, and the Hospital Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis, the Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi.
