NEW YORK — The Province’s annual guardians’ meeting will be held Oct. 19 through Oct. 21 at St. Francis Retreat House in Easton, Pa. Attendees have been asked to arrive on Tuesday afternoon and stay until Thursday morning.
October Guardians’ Meeting
The date was moved earlier this year because a meeting at the usual time in November was felt to be too close to the Provincial Chapter in January 2011, according to Provincial Secretary Michael Harlan, OFM, who notified the guardians of the date change last month.
St. Francis Retreat House, a ministry of St. John the Baptist Province, is located approximately 75 miles from both New York and Philadelphia.
Further information about the guardians’ meeting will follow, Michael said.
June Latino Friar Gathering
Another friar event was announced last month by the Province’s Hispanic Ministry Committee.
To address interest from friars about getting together, the committee is organizing a Hispanic Ministry and Latino friar gathering.
“We are pleased to announce that this gathering will take place June 15 and 16 at Holy Name College, Silver Spring,” said Christopher Posch, OFM, committee chair. “It will commence with lunch on June 15, and conclude with lunch on June 16. We are grateful to Francis Di Spigno, OFM, and our Holy Name College brothers who will be hosting us.”
The committee is solidifying the event’s agenda, Christopher said. Friars who would like to participate have been asked to e-mail him. “We are collaborating to create an effective structure and environment for fraternal sharing, ministerial reflection, and prayer. We look forward to hearing from you, and in sharing in what promises to be a rewarding experience.”
