NEW YORK — Franciscans International, the organization that represents the Franciscan community at the United Nations (U.N.), has produced an official position paper, titled “Human Rights, Poverty and Extreme Poverty.”
The text has been fine-tuned based on a worldwide questionnaire of Franciscans who work with the poor. The paper represents the contributions of Franciscans from all over the world.
The document is a tool to underline extreme poverty at regional, national and international levels, and to allow the Franciscans to introduce concerns and recommendations to the U.N. The document can be downloaded in English, Spanish, and French from the Franciscans International site, www.franciscansinternational.org.
