NEW YORK — Young and old alike gathered on Aug. 16 for the second annual summer bazaar of the Franciscan Community Center (FCC) ofHoly Name of Jesus Church here, where Daniel Kenna, OFM, is pastor.
On the sidewalk outside the FCC, located on West 97th Street, crocheted accessories, sweaters, knitted clothing and crafts handmade by seniors were on sale. Additionally, FCC members, staff and neighbors donated new and gently-used books, toys and knick-knacks for purchase.
Passers-by in this culturally-diverse neighborhood particularly enjoyed the homemade patties, iced tea and lemonade, all freshly prepared on site.
Inside the building, seating was available for those who wanted to spend some time out of the sun and enjoy music, mingling and a food sale representing a smorgasbord of international delights.
The event was organized by Mildred Morency, director of the FCC, as well as other staff members of the center.
