Four Novices Received

HNP Communications In the Headlines

Four postulants were received as novices of Holy Name Province June 17 in the friary chapel at St. Bonaventure University. The Provincial Vicar, Dominic Monti, received the novices at the evening prayer service and presented them with their habits.

The new novices are:

Stephen Dewitt is from Buffalo, N.Y. He is a 2004 graduate of St. Bonaventure University. After his graduation, he spent a year pursuing graduate studies at the University of Dayton.

Mario Gòmez is from Lima, Peru. He graduated from Universidad Católica del Perú in Lima in 2003. For the six months before entering the postulant program in the Bronx, Mario lived and worked with the friars at St. Anthony Parish in Camden, N.J.

Daniel Horan was born in Pensacola, Fla., grew up in Utica, N.Y., and graduated from St. Bonaventure University in May 2005 with an Honors B.A. in theology.

Hugo Medrano is from Santa Rosa de Lima in El Salvador. He graduated from Universidad Modular Abierta-San Miguel in 1999 and has been living in Hyattsville, Md.

These four novices were joined by three novices from Christ the King Province in Western Canada. They are Dwayne Fernandes, Pierre Ducharme, and Billy Eisner. They were received in Canada before joining our men at St. Bonaventure. The new novices will spend the rest of this month and July at St. Bonaventure taking introductory classes in Franciscan history and spirituality before returning to Wilmington.
