WASHINGTON — The Franciscan Action Network is partnering with Odyssey Networks in the Million Minutes for Peace campaign. Together, the groups are working to collect one million pledges to pray for peace for one minute at noon on the United Nations International Day of Peace Sept. 21. Information about this initiative was distributed to FAN supporters through a recent e-letter.

The Franciscan Action Network highlighted in its recent communication the many “wonderful witnesses” who are commemorated through feast days in September. “These next few weeks are filled with members of the Franciscan family, who provide a foundation for us, as witnesses of Gospel living,” FAN reported. “What a richness we have, as a family, with all of these holy men and women. How blessed we are to be able to share their stories and hold them close.”

FAN’s web outreach coordinator wrote a reflection about the Sept. 17 feast of the Stigmata of St. Francis. Other September feast days include St. Joseph of Cupertino, St. Padre Pio, St. Pacifico of San Severino, and Mother Theresa Hackelmeier, foundress of the Franciscan Sisters of Oldenburg, Ind.
