WASHINGTON — The Franciscan Action Network has announced its partnership with GreenFaith, a leading national interfaith environmental organization, to support environmental leadership through the FAN community.
Parishes and ministries are invited to be part of the GreenFaith Certification Program and enroll in the GreenFaith Fellowship Program, an 18-month comprehensive environmental education and training program that teaches how to become a strong religious environmental leader. Participants can write a personal eco-theological statement, implement their own religious-environmental leadership project, join the fellowship’s alumni network, and mentor other emerging religious environmental leaders.
To help parishes and ministries better understand the program, GreenFaith is offering two free webinars, 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. on June 20, and 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 12. Scholarships are available for five FAN-affiliated parishes and three FAN-affiliated leaders to receive a 50 percent tuition scholarship to participate in GreenFaith’s Certification and Fellowship programs.
Registration information can be obtained by emailing Stacey Kennealy, director of the certification program. Recordings of the webinars will be available online.
Next month, FAN is hosting a national training event on integrating powerful action for justice with Franciscan spirituality. It is being offered July 26 to 27, at the St. Francis Capuchin Center in Milwaukee, Wis., one mile from the site of the July 27 to 30 Franciscan Federation Annual Conference. Participants can register for “Effective Action for Justice in the Spirit of Saints Francis and Clare,” online or by contacting FAN’s Christy Elliott (202-527-7575).
