employment-opportunitiesSILVER SPRING, Md. — Saint Francis International School, the award-winning elementary school on the campus of St. Camillus Church, is seeking a director of extended programs.

SFIS offers a robust number of school programs throughout the year that provides care for children beyond the traditional school day. This new staff member will work alongside the school’s principal, director of operations, and the assistant principal in further developing and managing all aspects of the schools’ major programs that extend the school day and year.

Responsibilities include the advancement of existing and new offerings including the integration of enrichment activities, school clubs, and tutoring; serving as the summer school principal coordinating all aspects of the existing Summer Academy ‘Summer @ Saint Francis programs’, working with St. Camillus Church and partners in the management of shared summer programs like Peace Camp and Bible Camp, as well as the development of potential new summer offerings such as sports programs.

The ideal candidate will hold a master’s degree in education or related field, prior experience in youth and campus ministry, as well as hold or be willing to obtain Maryland Level 4 Child Care Director Credential. Qualifications include strong organizational and managerial skills, be able to work collaboratively with school and parish leaders, along with the ability to manage budgets and work with financial operations.

The position is meant to be complementary to the new youth minister job at St. Camillus Parish “in increasing and refining our out-of-school-time ministries to youth and children,” said Harkleroad. “It’s a very exciting moment for our communities.”

Saint Francis International School was established in 2010 and currently is sponsored and supported by four parishes: St. Camillus, St. Mark the Evangelist, Our Lady of Vietnam, and St. Catherine Laboure.
