POMPTON LAKES, N.J. — St. Mary’s Parish is seeking an experienced director of business operations. This is a full-time position reporting to the pastor, Gonzalo Torres-Acosta, OFM.
The director’s primary role is to be a steward entrusted with management of the parish’s financial, physical and personnel resources. He or she shall carry out the responsibilities in a manner that coincides with the vision and mission of the St. Mary’s community and in a way that reflects Catholic values.
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in a business field, though an MBA is preferred. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of management experience, including managing people, projects and processes. He or she should also have solid and demonstrated knowledge in the fields of finance, accounting, human resources, facilities and technology, and a demonstrated knowledge of internal financial controls. The director should also have strong project management skills, as well as the ability to use current web-based technologies to track and report on projects. At least five years of active volunteer work or employment in a Catholic parish is desirable.
The director’s various responsibilities will include safeguarding the parish assets (both monetary and physical); overseeing the functions of the Finance Office in accordance with diocesan, parish and school policies; assisting the director of maintenance in administering a preventative maintenance plan for buildings, grounds and facilities; and collaborating with the pastor to develop and administer compensation, employee benefits and recognition systems to appropriately reward personnel job performance.
The director will also oversee the management, retrieval and security of the financial and sacramental records of the parish and coordinate all aspects of insurance coverage for the parish. A complete list of responsibilities is available in the job description.
