Several Catholic and Franciscan organizations have openings in Pennsylvania and New York City.

The Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia are seeking to fill several positions — including nurses, dietary service aides and certified nursing assistants — at Assisi House in Aston, Pa. The Sisters of St. Francis are also searching for a program director for St. Mary’s Franciscan Shelter in Phoenixville, Pa., northwest of Philadelphia. Responsibilities will include overseeing operations, budget, program development and funding, along with ensuring that the staff carries out responsibilities in accordance with professional standards and the shelter’s mission statement. On Long Island, N.Y., the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Roosevelt is looking for Franciscans to fill two staff positions. The organization runs two transitional housing programs — one for men recently released from prison, and the other for a mix of men released from prison as well as other men. In New York City, Holy Name Province is accepting inquiries for a part-time staff person to assist its communications office in delivering information to friars and to the public.­­­ Responsibilities will include writing and editing text for the HNP website and articles for the Province’s e-newsletter, formatting e-bulletins through the email marketing program Constant Contact, and researching information as needed.

An ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or a related field, as well as one year of work experience in a communications environment. Qualifications include basic website and design skills, knowledge of AP style, and support of the mission of the Franciscans. Familiarity with the Roman Catholic Church is valuable.
