In Western New York, St. Bonaventure University is looking for a minister-in-residence. This part-time, 20-hour a week, live-in position will provide assistance to students in crisis and pastoral care when appropriate. The minister-in-residence will create an environment to help students explore the intersection of faith, reason and action.
A successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree with one or two years of related experience in ministry and leadership. An understanding of Catholic and Franciscan traditions, ethics and values is also expected. Additional information about the position is available online. In New York City, St. Francis of Assisi Parish is offering assistance with job hunting. Renew, the younger retiree program at the parish on West 31st Street, is sponsoring a day of free, private sessions on May 20 to assist unemployed persons, as well as others facing possible layoffs or career transitions. In Boston, St. Anthony Shrine is looking for a volunteer electrical engineer to provide advice on how and where to install an emergency generator. The ministry is currently undertaking a comprehensive evaluation of the operation of the heating, cooling, ventilation, exhaust, lighting and plumbing systems. In New Jersey, St. Francis of Assisi Parish on Long Beach Island is hiring a counselor for kindergarten to sixth graders, as well as summer preschool teacher assistants.
