Easter Baskets for Wood-Ridge Needy

Marie Ward Around the Province

WOOD-RIDGE, N.J.– “Blessed is he who feeds the poor and gives them some special consideration.” That is exactly what our Assumption Fraternity of the Secular Franciscans here decided to do for the needy of the parish.

From food and money donations received from parishioners of Our Lady of the Assumption Church, the Secular Franciscans were able to prepare a complete Easter dinner for 15 needy families. The Easter baskets were distributed from the parish’s food pantry on Wednesday, March 28. Jean Zoch and Rosalie Cauceglia, SFO members, who have manned the pantry for many years during its weekly outreach, assisted in giving out the baskets.

Cassian Miles, Spiritual Assistant for the local SFO fraternity, noted that “each basket had enough of a variety of food items to provide each family with the makings of a complete Easter dinner, including canned ham and turkey, vegetables and even muffin mix.”
