DURHAM, N.C. — The Emily Krzyzewski Family Life Center, on the campus of Immaculate Conception Church here, reached its first birthday last month. It opened in March 2006 to serve the community of Durham.

The center is named for the mother of Duke University basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski who contributed the majority of the funds needed to build the Center.

Daniel McLellan, pastor of Immaculate Conception, said that he is “pleased with how the center is being used.

“By providing the land for the center, Immaculate Conception was making an important investment in the neighborhood and city, and in its own future,” he said. “By providing opportunities for young people to ‘Dream, Do, Achieve,’ the center has given our kids and their friends new options for their future.

“As Durham’s Latino population increases, the Center is becoming an effective partner with IC in helping Spanish-speaking parents provide quality educational opportunities for their kids,” Dan added.

Details about the center can be found in the March issue of The Anthonian, the quarterly magazine of St. Anthony’s Guild.  The issue also includes articles about:
