NEW YORK — To raise awareness about the ongoing genocide in Darfur, Sudan, the Save Darfur Coalition is launching the Dream for  Darfur initiative here on Sept. 9  to focus attention on the positive role that China could play in helping convince the  government in Khartoum, Sudan, to end the attacks against innocent civilians in Darfur.

According to a message distributed last week by Fr. Michael Perry, OFM, of the Province of the Sacred Heart, the Dream for Darfur Web site describes a campaign to carry an Olympic-style torch across the United States and other parts of the world to symbolize the connection between China, the Olympics, and the suffering and dying in Darfur.
