The Province is mourning the passing of a friar and several Franciscan sisters.
Fr. Marcel Bakoma, OFM, provincial minister of the Province of the Word Incarnate, which comprises five countries, died in a car accident on Nov. 11. His passing was announced Nov. 12 on the Order’s Facebook page.
Two members of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, N.Y., died recently at St. Elizabeth Motherhouse in Allegany. Sr. Barbara Martens, OSF, 98, died Oct. 21. Sr. Anthony Clare Reiman, OSF, 87, died Nov. 6.
Three members of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia died recently in Aston, Pa.
Sr. Mary Peter Kerner, OSF, 79, died Oct. 31. She ministered primarily in education and in social services. She ministered for 46 years in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and her work led to the development and opening of Anna’s Place in Chester, Pa.
Sr. Joella Francis Campbell, OSF, died Nov. 15. She had been a professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 68 years. Sister Joella Francis ministered primarily in elementary and secondary education.
Sr. Claudia Cunningham, OSF, 88, died Nov. 19.
