Franciscan deaths

Holy Name Province is mourning the recent passing of four friars.

Fr. Christian Mondor, OFM, 92, of St. Barbara Province, died on April 25 in Huntington Beach, Calif. Known as the “Surfing Padre,” he was a friar for 74 years and a priest for 67.

Two members of Sacred Heart Province have died: Fr. Lawrence Nickels, OFM, 65, of Sacred Heart Province, died on May 1 in St. Louis, and Fr. Walter Dolan, OFM, 84, died on May 6 in Manitowoc, Wis.

Fr. Warren Zeisler, OFM, 94, of St. John the Baptist Province, died May 4 in Cincinnati.

Fr. Laurence Dolan, OFM, 78, of St. Barbara Province, died on May 15.
