The Province is mourning the passing of a friar and five Franciscan sisters.
Fr. James Perluzzi, OFM, 79, of Sacred Heart Province, died May 8 in Manitowoc, Wis. The Minnesota native served as provincial secretary and held several positions at the OFM Curia — general secretary for the missions and director of fundraising –— where he served a total of 22 years, according to an announcement in the Around the Province newsletter. A Memorial Mass with Cremains is scheduled for May 19 at St. Peter’s in the Loop Church, Chicago, where Fr. Jim had been stationed for several years.
Three members of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, N.Y., died recently: Sr. Angela Cools-Lartigue, OSF, died on March 18, Sr. Dolores Eileen Thorndike, OSF, died March 31, Sr. Jane Kane, OSF, died April 29, Sr. Veronica Mary Louis, OSF, on May 8 and Sr. Frances Cardillo, OSF, on May 9.
