The Province is mourning the recent passing of several friars from the Order’s English-speaking Conference and three Franciscan sisters.
Fr. Robert Sisk, 84, a member of the Third Order Regular, died on June 23 in Loretto, Pa.
Fr. Robert Pawell, OFM, of Sacred Heart Province, died on July 4 in Chicago.
Sr. Rose Claire Gonzalez, SMIC, 89, a member of the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Conception, died July 9. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated July 15 at St. Bonaventure Church in Paterson, N.J.
Two members of St. John the Baptist Province have died: Br. Bernard Jennings, OFM, 90, died July 17 in Cincinnati, and Fr. Paul Desch, OFM, 88, died on July 18.
Fr. Jerry Zawada, OFM, 88, of Assumption BVM Province, died on July 15 in Wisconsin.
Two Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia died this month. Sr. Ellen Mary Meskill, OSF, died July 20 in Aston, Pa. and Sr. Helena Joseph Balbach, OSF, 95, died July 29.
Fr. Patrick Hudson, OFM, a member of the Province of Ireland, died July 30 in Dublin.
