Deaths in Franciscan Communities

The Province is mourning the passing of five friars and a Franciscan sister.

Two members of Our Lady of Guadalupe Province have died: Fr. Nils Thompson, OFM, 80, who died Nov. 10 in Houston, and Fr. Chrysostom Partee, OFM, 91, who died Dec. 1 in Rio Rancho, N.M. Information about their lives can be found on OLG Province’s website.

Fr. Joseph Rigali, OFM, 84, of St. John the Baptist Province, and a former General Visitor for Holy Name Province, died Nov. 27 in Cincinnati.

Sr. Anne Charles, OSF, 81, died on Dec. 5 in Tacoma, Wash. She had been a professed member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia for 63 years.

Fr. Felix Nowakowski, OFM, 70, of Assumption BVM Province, died Dec. 6 in Pittsburgh.

Fr. James McManamon, OFM, 93, died Dec. 11 in Cleveland. He was a member of Sacred Heart Province.
