The Province is mourning the passing of several friars and Franciscan sisters.

Two members of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, N.Y., have died in recent weeks: Sr. Mary Therese Maher, OSF, 91, on Oct 21, and Sr. Paula Rose Brown, OSF, 78, on Oct. 31.

Fr. Salvador Aragon, OFM, 87, a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Province, died on Oct. 24 in Rio Rancho, N.M.

Bishop Gerald Scarpone, OFM, 88, of Honduras, a member of Immaculate Conception Province, died on Oct. 29 in Managua, Nicaragua. A Funeral Mass was celebrated Nov. 3 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Comayagua, Honduras.

Sr. Mary Gian Carla of Calvary, FMSC, of Peekskill, N.Y., died on Oct. 31. She was born in Treviso, Italy.

Sr. Columbkill O’Connor, OSF, 102, a member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia, died in Aston, Pa., on Nov. 6. She was born in County Kerry, Ireland.

Fr. Pedro Vasquez, OFM, 76, of St. Barbara Province, died Nov. 10 in Los Banos, Calif., where a memorial Mass was celebrated on Nov. 23.
