SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Fr. David Eckelkamp, OFM, 80, of Sacred Heart Province, died April 1 at St. John’s Hospital here. He served as General Visitor to Holy Name Province in 1976.
Fr. David, who was ordained in 1953, served in many leadership roles, including Provincial Vicar of Sacred Heart from 1969 to 1975, executive secretary of the OFM English-Speaking Conference from 1975 to 1991, and as spiritual assistant to the Secular Franciscan Order.
