HNP Communications HNPNow

Catholic Theological Union is offering a summer program, Reframing Retirement for Mission, designed to assist friars and other men and women religious transitioning from active ministry to retirement. The program will be offered online from June 6 to June 24, with an optional directed retreat for in-person-only participation from June 24 to June 30. Described as a curriculum-centered, community-based, holistic program that focuses on personal growth and well-being, communal renewal, spirituality and ministerial growth, and new opportunities for engaging in ministry, this continuing education opportunity will be presented by CTU faculty and visiting speakers.

The online description of the program says that retirement doesn’t have to mean withdrawal from meaningful work on behalf of Christ’s mission and ministry, but that it requires a realistic, necessary and creative adjustment in how to continue to respond faithfully to the call to bring Christ to others. Components of the program include scripture, theology, liturgy, spirituality and psychology – all of which are presented from a pastoral perspective to enable participants to reflect on their ministry experience as they plan for their future mission.
