Communications Office Update: Friar Bios Online

HNP Communications Around the Province

NEW YORK — Visitors to www.HNP.org can now read about the lives of Holy Name Province’s deceased friars.

This new feature, found under the “Our Friars” section of the “Who We Are” page, allows visitors to click a deceased friar’s name, bringing up a brief biography and photo of each friar.

Biographies are based on those currently printed in the necrology and obituary notices from the Provincial Annals.

The Communications Office (CO) is adding the biographies by date of death. Bios for the entire month of May and early June are currently available on the Web site.

“This new feature is going to be interesting to both friars and our partners-in-ministry,” said Provincial Vicar Dominic Monti, OFM. “I have enjoyed seeing some of the friars I’ve admired over the years now presented ‘online’ for the public. People who have been touched by a friar in the past, whether in one of our parishes or schools, can now more easily call them to mind.”

Also for the Web site, the CO staff is compiling a photo album about the May 16 ordination of Lihn Hoang, OFM, Hugh Macsherry, OFM, Stephen Mimnaugh, OFM, and Harry Monaco, OFM. It will be part of the “Our Events” section of the photo gallery. In addition, friars will soon be able to review an Extranet album of the January 2009 trip to Peru of Provincial Minister John O’Connor, OFM.

Friars who are not able to access the HNP Extranet are reminded to contact the Communications Office for assistance. Jocelyn Thomas, communications director, can be reached by phone at (646) 473-02265 ext. 321 or by e-mail at JThomas@hnp.org. Rebecca Doel, communications coordinator, can be reached by phone at ext. 311 or e-mail at RDoel@hnp.org.

The CO welcomes news, comments, and questions from HNP Today readers. The deadline for submitting information for HNP Today is the Wednesday before each issue’s distribution date.

Thomas said she encourages readers to share HNP Today. To forward an article electronically, copy the Web address at the top of the browser into an e-mail. To subscribe to HNP Today, click here.
