HNP Communications Around the Province

NEW YORK — Friars and specified members of their ministry staffs will now find a photo gallery on the HNP Extranet, showing recognizable faces. A browse through the gallery will exhibit three albums:

• The Province’s 2008 guardians meeting
• A friar gathering before the May 2008 ordination
• The friars’ 2007 move into the new St. Francis Friary in New York City

More albums will be added in the coming weeks, said Jocelyn Thomas, the Province’s director of communications.

HNP’s Communications Office (CO) has also added a new photo gallery to the public page on the Web site. Visit the home page to see the “Our Work” gallery, showing the first two of many ministry albums to come. They focus on “service to the poor.”

Sharing History
Province ministries are encouraged to share with their communities the story of the Franciscan’s 800-year history. This milestone can be communicated in a variety of ways; a list of eight ideasfor commemorating the Order’s 800th was distributed to HNP friars on the last day of April, the month considered to be the anniversary of when Francis received oral approval of his proposal in 1209 from Pope Innocent III to live a Gospel Way of Life.

Thomas said the CO welcomes questions, comments and ideas from friars and other HNP Today readers about the Province’s Web site and newsletter, or how the staff can help communicate Province events and initiatives, according to Thomas, who will be meeting this month with the Province’s Communications Advisory Committee.
