Communications Office Seeks to Publicize Volunteer Opportunities

Jocelyn Thomas Around the Province

NEW YORK — Does your ministry use volunteers? Would you welcome donations of time and talent?

The Provincial Office is compiling a list of HNP ministries and programs that use volunteers.

Friars and staff members are asked to provide details about ministries that welcome new volunteers by sending an e-mail to communications@hnp.org Some groups may need short-term assistance, for example to help out at a seasonal event, while others may need long-term help, including year-long commitments.

It has come to the attention of the Communications Office that people often want to donate skills to the Franciscans and do not know how to get involved. The Communications Office is eager to update readers on how to volunteer.

A list of volunteer opportunities will appear in an upcoming publication. Meantime, feel free to call the Communications Office (646-473-0265) with questions.

Other communications updates from the Provincial Office include:
• Newsletter: Many photos accompanying articles can now be enlarged for easier viewing. Browse this issue of HNP Today to locate five such photographs.
• Web site: Enhancements have been made to the Vocation section. See “Who can Be a Franciscan” for updated information.
• The Anthonian: The September issue will soon be off press. Watch your mailboxes as well as parishes and ministry sites for copies, and visit the Web site before Labor Day to see the issue.
