NEW YORK — As more friars and HNP ministry organizations embrace Pope Benedict XVI’s call to reach out using new media, the Communications Office is striving to keep its list of blogs by HNP members and ministries up to date.
The revised blogs page, which can be found through the “Our Friars,” “Communications” and “Join Us” pages of www.HNP.org includes links to the weblogs of five HNP friars as well as eight representative ministries and affiliated organizations.
The newest friar additions are student Daniel Horan, OFM, and Daniel Riley, OFM, a member of the Mt. Irenaeus Franciscan Mountain Retreat community.
The blogs by HNP ministries section is comprised of “Be A Franciscan” and “Encuentro Franciscano,” the blogs of the Vocation and Hispanic ministries, as well as the following:
· Franciscan Action Network
· St. Francis Inn
· Franciscan Mission Service
· Franciscan Volunteer Ministry
· Mt. Irenaeus’ Franciscan Sojourners
· The Catholic Community of St. Francis of Assisi in Raleigh, N.C.
“These blogs represent just some of blogs being maintained by friars and by organizations affiliated with the Province,” said HNP communications director Jocelyn Thomas. She added: “It is helpful when HNP friars and ministries e-mail the web addresses of blogs to the Communications Office.”
Communications Survey
Thomas thanks Crossroads 2011 attendees who completed the HNP Communications Survey that was included in the Chapter binder.
“Our office is still collecting surveys,” she said, adding that they can be mailed, faxed or e-mailed to the CO. “We are aiming to find out what information they may be looking for and by what communications vehicle they both use and prefer.”
In addition, the office will be sending surveys to all HNP friars who were unable to attend the Jan. 3 to 7 Chapter in Cambridge, Md. The document will be made available on the HNP Extranet.
HNP Today Contributions
The Communications Office welcomes news from both friars and staff members of HNP ministries for inclusion in the Provincial newsletter and for publicizing on the Franciscans Friars of Holy Name Province Facebook page.
The deadlines for submission for news to HNP Today are as follows:
· Feb. 2 for Feb. 9 issue
· Feb. 16 for Feb. 23
· March 2 for March 9
· March 16 for March 23
