NEW YORK — The Province’s Communications Office (CO) provides several updates about its current initiatives.
The CO staff is continuing to work on ways to enhance the information flow among friars as well as from the Province to the public.
As a result, several minor changes to the format of HNP Today have been introduced with this issue, as a way to present news in a brief and easy-to-read style.
The “Friar News” section has been moved up; it is now placed between the “Of Note This Issue” and “Features” sections. In addition, the text under each headline now serves as a subhead rather than a preview of the article text.
The next issue of HNP Today will be distributed Nov. 25, the day before Thanksgiving.
Deadlines for news submission for upcoming issues are listed below:
· Nov. 17 for the Nov. 25 issue
· Dec. 2 for the Dec. 9 issue
· Dec. 16 for Dec. 23 issue
The Communications Office invites friars, ministry staff members and other readers of this newsletter to contribute information and photos to the CO.
In other Communications Office news, the Province’s directory is being updated for distribution before Christmas. An online update will be posted on the HNP Web site before the end of November.
Blogs by HNP ministries continue to provide news and reflections. The Vocation Office’s “Be A Franciscan” most recent entry is a reflection from vocation director Brian Smail, OFM, on an evening with Archbishop Timothy Dolan of New York. Several friars and partners-in-ministry have commented on “Encuentro Franciscano.” Jud Weiksnar, OFM, posted a link to a YouTube video of the Oct. 24 event.
Next week, communications director Jocelyn Thomas will present an update to the guardians at their annual meeting.
