The fourth annual “9-11 Father Mychal Judge Walk of Remembrance” will be held on Sunday, Sept. 10, beginning at 8 a.m. at St. Francis Church on West 31st Street in New York City.
The commemoration will begin in the upper church with the praying of the rosary. A Mass, concelebrated by Chris Keenan and Jerome Massimino, will follow.
The Mass will be followed by a procession to “Ground Zero” led by Stephen McDonald, a disabled police detective who was a friend of Mychal’s. The procession will stop at various firehouses and police precincts along the way.
The walk of remembrance is open to the public and all are invited to attend.
There will be a private prayer service at 2 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Cathedral for the families of the 343 firefighters who died on Sept. 11, 2001. Any friar interested in attending should request tickets from the Family Service Unit of the N.Y. Fire Department prior to Sept. 1. To do so, fax your name, address and phone number to 718-999-0650. Mark the fax as “Attention: Evelyn, Family Service Unit.”
Transportation will be provided to the cathedral following the walk.
