Russell Becker, OFM, director of the Province’s Franciscan Missionary Union, will conduct a parish mission called “Now that We Are Baptized – What Do We do” at Holy Name Church on West 96th Street in Manhattan from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. on Nov. 5, 6 and 7. Michael Calabria, OFM, a lecturer of modern languages at St. Bonaventure University in Allegany, N.Y, took part in Ramadan, the Islamic practice of fasting during daylight hours. He did this in an effort to “make a teaching assistant feel more at home,” according to The Bona Venture, SBU’s student newspaper. This year, Ramadan began Sept. 13 and concluded Oct. 12.
Brian Jordan, OFM, and John Piccione, OFM, spent time with Jose Rodriguez Carballo, General Minister of the Order of Friars Minor, on Oct. 18 as he traveled through the New York area on his way home to Italy.
Francis Pompeii, OFM, spoke at St. Bonaventure Church, Allegany, N.Y., on Oct. 20 as part of a four-session fall adult formation program, titled “What Do Catholics Eat, What Do Catholics Believe?”
