NEW YORK — To prepare for the 2011 Provincial Chapter, friars have been asked this month to focus on two key topics: the agenda and the election of the provincial minister.
On May 4, the solemnly-professed friars were sent information about nominating the next provincial minister. Those eligible for the position are friars who have been solemnly-professed five years or longer at the time of the Chapter. Each solemnly-professed friars is asked to nominate five friars for the office.
John O’Connor, OFM, who was elected at the Provincial Chapter of June 2005, will complete his six-year term at Holy Name’s January 2011 Chapter. He is eligible to be re-elected for another three years, according to the General Statutes of the Order of Friars Minor.
Nominating ballots must be returned to the Provincial Office no later than June 4.
Agenda suggestions are also due in June.

William (shown above) said agenda items — due by the end of June — should be forwarded to him as chair of the Chapter Planning Committee.
