Catholic School Seeks Principal in Olean

Southern Tier Catholic School of Olean, N.Y., is searching for a full-time principal to start during the fall 2006 semester.

The school has 14 full-time teachers, four part-time teachers and a secretary. There are 137 students: 10 in pre-K and 127 in K-8.

Southern Tier Catholic School believes the education of a child is a cooperative venture between the home and school. Good communication and common goals are shared among the parents, teachers and administration. The community is proud of its long-time commitment to Catholic School education.

The majority of the student population is Catholic and resides in the Olean School District. The school offers a hot lunch program as well as an after-school care program and extracurricular activities. Health services are provided by the Olean City School District. The school abides by the standards of the New York State Department of Education and the mandates of the Diocese of Buffalo and the Department of Catholic Education. Art, music, Spanish, computer instruction and physical education are part of the regular school program.

The principal works in collaboration with the board of pastors, the school board and the home-school as a regional school.

Requirements are five years experience as a Catholic school teacher, a masters degree in Education or Education Administration, and demonstrated skills in administration and leadership. The successful applicant must be an active Catholic member of a parish, have a clear commitment to Catholic schools, and be a decisive and visionary leader with recruitment ability.
