Camden Recycling Programs

William "Jud" Weiksnar Around the Province

The 8th graders at St. Anthony of Padua School in Camden, N. J., designed and launched a recycling program for the school. On Feb. 2, they were invited to the Diocese of Camden Catholic Charities Training Festival to give a presentation to 80 Catholic Charities staff members on why recycling is important, and how they implemented their recycling program in the school. The school now recycles all paper, corrugated cardboard, glass, aluminum, and #1 & 2 plastics. I prefaced their presentation with a brief summary of a Franciscan spirituality of ecology. Catholic Charities now hopes to begin their own recycling program.
