BRONX, N.Y. — Holy Cross Parish here said “Godspeed” to long-time parish secretary and bookkeeper Betty Carrasquillo as she retired in June.
The parish presented her with the Francis Medal on June 17, after 24 years of ministry, and a retirement party was held at a local restaurant the following day. The Francis Medal is presented to a layperson for outstanding assistance to the friars.
“The friars and parish community are deeply grateful for Betty’s dedication and hard work these many years,” said Todd Carpenter.
Betty, a long-time parishioner of Holy Cross, will continue to have an active presence in the parish, participating with several parish groups and ministries, Todd added.
Shown in the photo with Betty are deacon Jamie Bello, left, and Thaddeus Sapio.
