BOSTON — On Oct. 27, Cardinal Sean O’Malley, archbishop of Boston, and his two secretaries visited the friar community at Saint Anthony Shrine here for a fraternal evening.
David Convertino, OFM, welcomed him and his secretaries on behalf of the entire community. Richard McFeely, OFM, joined the friars who gathered to greet the guests.
During a festive cocktail hour, Cardinal Sean visited with friars and postulants. Before a formal dinner prepared by the kitchen staff, Cardinal Sean said a special table prayer. He blessed the meal and the gathering.
Following dinner and before Compline, David gave the guests a tour of the new Franciscan Food Center and Baby Place. After Compline, everyone gathered in the receation room for dessert and cordials.
One of the postulants said, “This was a real Franciscan evening.”
